Fragment #17- 32”H x 8”W

This clock is made with acid etched metal and Pennsylvania cherry wood. The dots that indicate the hours are inlayed purple heart wood. The contrast of the natural colors of the two different woods along with outstanding grain designs in the cherry contribute the the beauty and contrast of the metal and wood. The metal is aluminum. In a process designed by the artists, artwork is painted on the metal with an artists brush. The metal is then submerged into an acid bath where the artwork is left in high relief. The metal undergoes lots of hand work and buffing to bring out the jewelry-like finish on the metal. The wood is finished with a permanent hand rubbed oil finish. The clock runs on a reliable Seiko Quartz movement and one AA Battery.
